Family Activities

Don't forget - the day isn't just about the sport! We have plenty of shoreside attractions planned to keep everyone entertained... from our annual tug 'o war to children's activities, the Games will be fun for the whole family. The Rio theme will inject a party atmosphere into the day. Here's a flavour of what you can expect...

Down at the Hamble Foreshore children's entertainment includes a mobile climbing wall and a soft play area, courtesy of Xtreme Vortex. As with previous years there will also be a crabbing competition with kits and buckets available on the day.

Our ever popular Tug 'o War will take place in the afternoon!

Refreshments will be available at the bars, yacht clubs, caf├ęs and restaurants up and down the river - if you need a table, booking early is advised! At the Hamble Foreshore, coffee lovers can head straight for Flat Whites' mobile coffee unit. This Little Piggy will also be on site with their mobile kitchen serving a wide selection of tasty treats and savoury meats - which includes their Taste of the Carribbean range in line with our Rio theme. We're delighted to announce two Hamble-based vintage mobile bars will be in attendance. 'Tilly the Tram' will be selling wraps and rolls, and 1950s Citroen H Van 'Jenne' will be serving sweet and savoury crepes. And also keeping low food miles, Pickwell Farm, which is just down the road from Hamble village, grows the juciest strawberries. Pickwells will be selling their strawberries at the Games, adding a touch of Wimbledon to the day's sporting events.

You may also like to do a spot of shopping in between events, with a range of local shops, gift shops and boutiques in the villages including Warsash and Hamble, all open for business. Down at the Foreshore, we're looking forward to visiting Ropelet's stall which sells beautiful rope bracelets; quite apt for the River Hamble sailing community.

We are delighted to confirm that King's School Winchester Student Steel Band will be entertaining us with two 30 minute sets during late afternoon. And, as with every year, there will be an after Games party; to be be held this year at the RAF Club. More details to follow.

Online registration is not required for the family activities, please just turn up on the day and join in!
