COMPETITORS - all the information for your event can be found in the event programme which you can download here:
The kayaking event will take place on the River, launching from the Hamble side downstream of the Blue Star Cafe. Kayaks for the event will be provided and include Perception Mirages, Pyrhana Master Lites or Perception Overflows.
The route will be a laid in a slalom course, consisting of 20 gates over a total distance of 200m (approx). Heats will be run as timed runs, from High Water, culminating in a Grand Final for gold and silver medals plus a runners up race for bronze medals.
Each competitor will get 2 timed runs - the fastest of which (including penalties) will be used for scoring. The winner will be based on this result in each group. There will be a 5 second penalty for hitting a gate and a 50 second penalty for missing the gate completely.
Competitors can practice on the day prior to the event in their own kayaks, from about an hour before and water levels permitting (this worked fine last time there was plenty of water).

Juniors (12-16 years old)
Seniors (17-39 years old)

Safety cover will be provided by qualified instructors.
