The rowing event will take place on the River using Bursledon Gigs and there are no hard and fast rules about who can participate:

  • All ages mixed in so in other words, no age category!
  • A boat must be coxed and comprise of 3 or 4 rowers
  • They can be mixed or single sex crews

This year’s race will start at 11am from a start line near the ‘Pink Ferry’ hut on the Warsash side of the River. The course will be a long, 9 mile course, to the ‘head of the river’, where the Hamble forks to Botley and Curbridge and finishing back in Hamble. It is the first ever Bursledon Gig race along the length of the River Hamble and is ideal for those who want to push hard for a medal, or for those who want to enjoy a challenging, yet beautiful row along the River.

The Hamble River Rowing Club welcome new members and invite anyone to come and try gig rowing at one of their club sessions held on Tuesdays at The Jolly Sailor pub in Bursledon - See their website for more information: www.hambleriverrowing.com
